Event Details
Course Description: Essentials of Firefighting is an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed by a beginning firefighter in the Snake River Valley Training Association (SRVTA). Successful completion of this two-day training course and the annual Live Fire training is required within two years of first joining any SRVTA fire agency.
The course will involve the following topics:

| Fire Behavior |
PRE-REQUISITES:
- Coat and pants, boots, gloves and hood (NFPA 1971 compliant)
- Positive-pressure SCBA (NFPA/MSHA/NIOSH compliant)
- Air-tight seal with face mask
Facial hair will not be allowed in the sealing area of the face mask. Participants who cannot attain an air-tight seal with their face mask, or who are not in compliance with NFPA, NIOSH and MSHA will not be given a certificate of completion.
Students must attend both weekends of training to receive a certificate of completion.
Lunch will be provided on first weekend for $10 per day for instructors and students, second weekend lunch will be on your own.
